How to Reduce Lower Back Pain
Closer Weekly discusses how to reduce back pain and includes guidance from Joel M. Press, MD, physiatrist-in-chief at HSS.
Sitting too much can wreak havoc on the lower back as it puts pressure on the cushioned discs between the bones in the spine. “Every 30 minutes, get up and walk around,” recommended Dr. Press.
In addition to good posture, stretching out and taking breaks, losing extra weight could make an impact. “Even losing just five pounds can take a load off your spine,” said Dr. Press.
