There’s A Possible Solution For The NBA, Load Management And Fan Perception

Forbes reports on recent concerns of load management, or where a team intentionally rests a player to preserve their longevity, in the NBA.

Forbes spoke to David W. Altchek, MD, sports medicine surgeon at HSS, about possible solutions to load management for the NBA. To mirror what the MLB does with starting pitchers, Dr. Altchek proposed if NBA organizations were to lay out a structured schedule that indicates when they are going to rest players, most of the negativity would disappear. Dr. Altchek also suggested that teams could actively monitor how much time and energy players factor into their planned resting schedule for in for practice, travel or in-game action.
