Clinicians Discuss Current & Future Rheumatoid Arthritis Approaches

The Rheumatologist reports HSS rheumatologist Vivian P. Bykerk, BSc, MD, FRCPC, joined three other clinicians at the 2019 American College of Rheumatology Annual Meeting, for a panel Q&A session to discuss the current and future of RA treatment approaches.

Panelists addressed the use of corticosteroids and treating patients with cancer. They also discussed where the area of research is headed for precision medicine, and Dr. Bykerk noted, “Using just histology at baseline—for when you want to switch therapy—is not yet mature enough. We need to understand the markers and that work is being done right now.”
