Will Lightening’s Stamkos be ready to return?

Tampa Bay Times reports that Tampa Bay Lightening’s Steven Stamkos had surgery over a month ago to repair a core muscle injury.

Ryan J. Lingor, MD, primary sports medicine physician at HSS, explains that a core muscle injury is most common in sports like hockey and soccer as those players are required to hyperextend their legs.

When asked about typical recovery, Dr. Lingor says that “you could either have an issue with the repair itself, or you can compensate and cause an issue to a different body part because everything is trying to make up for that vulnerable spot".
