Why bike riding has soared in popularity during the pandemic

TODAY reports on the increase of bike riding during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a form of exercise while the gyms were closed, the desire to spend time with family, and a means of transportation to avoid mass transit.

According to HSS primary sports medicine physician, Jordan D. Metzl, MD, bike injuries have also escalated. “I’ve seen more bike injuries and bike-related issues recently because people are biking everywhere, especially in urban places like New York City, people are doing a lot more biking," noted Dr. Metzl.
