What NFL, NBA, and MLB COVID Protocols Taught Us

Medscape hosts an expert panel featuring John P. DiFiori, MD, FASCM, chief of the Primary Sports Medicine Service at HSS, and HSS sports medicine physicians Kathryn D. McElheny, MD and James J. Kinderknecht, MD, discussing the current state of medical care for professional athletes in the era of COVID-19, given their experience in Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Football League (NFL).

Drs. DiFiori (who is the director of sports medicine for the NBA), McElheny (who is the associate team physician for the New York Mets) and Kinderknecht (who is a team physician for the New York Giants), highlight the protocols for testing and quarantines in the respective leagues, and how these leagues are approaching play going forward during the pandemic.
