'We would still love to bring him back': Despite season-ending surgery, Mavs still interested in retaining Seth Curry

Dallas Sports News reported that Dallas Mavericks' Seth Curry will undergo surgery to treat a stress reaction in his left tibia.

HSS sports medicine surgeon Joshua S. Dines, MD, who did not treat Curry, explained that a stress reaction occurs when repeated movements cause stress on a bone and can be a precursor to a fracture.

"Even if it's not fractured, a stress reaction may need to be treated the same way as a fracture with surgery to stabilize the bone," added Dr. Dines.

Additionally, Dr. Dines said it could take professional athletes more than three months to fully recover and return to the sport.
