Trying a New Workout? Try These 5 Tips to Ease Your Anxiety

Bicycling shares tips on easing anxiety when starting a brand new workout.

"Having good instruction and a good base of knowledge will help you feel more at ease," says Pamela Geisel MS, CSCS, exercise physiologist at HSS.

When working with a new trainer, Geisel recommends asking questions and making sure that lifting workouts have a purpose. 

"There’s science behind everything happening on the weight room floor," she says. "So firstly, make sure to communicate with a trainer clearly about your goals, the things that make you comfortable. This will help prevent injury, and ultimately, lift a weight off your shoulders."
