Tips for athletes of all ages training during the summer months
Good Morning Connecticut hosted Samuel A. Taylor, MD, sports medicine surgeon at HSS, live on-air to discuss how to stay safe while being active in the summer months.
"One of the things that's very important for people to take into consideration is the time that they choose to work out," said Dr. Taylor, who explained that it's best to work out in early morning or late evening when it's cooler.
"The cooler temps and the less humidity help us stay hydrated," Dr. Taylor noted.
As student-athletes prepare for fall sports, Dr. Taylor advised parents to "help their children maintain hydration through drinking water as well as other drinks that contain salts and electrolytes".
