This Week in Health IT interviews Jamie Nelson, chief information officer at HSS, as part of their field report.

Nelson talks about triaging builds in EMR to accommodate COVID-patients.

“We learned to be agile and flexible,” said Nelson who explains a lot of the old processes are gone.

She cites an example from last week how EMR changes were implemented within 24 hours, whereas it typically takes weeks.

She also explains how doctors and patents like telehealth and how this may sustain after COVID-19 pandemic. Last month, HSS had 3-4 physicians actively using telemedicine, and now has over 200 physicians signed up as well as physical therapy clinicians.
