One question pertains to market share and whether providers are leveraging the “share of cup” strategy. HSS, the largest and highest volume orthopedic hospital in the world, believes that wherever and whenever a musculoskeletal issue occurs, HSS should be part of that conversation. This belief has led to the development of a robust referral network, and while HSS has a smaller market share in New York, the “share of cup” approach has provided the hospital with a large opportunity.
