The Chronicles of Fibula: Everything you never knew that you needed to know

Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Bob Ford writes on fibula fractures in the city's sports history including the recent injury to Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Mike Wallace. Wallace had surgery to repair a fractured right fibula and is currently slated to return to the field this season.

"The fibula has a high healing rate, and with surgeries there are potential complications concerning infection, painful hardware, bad wound healing," said Mark C. Drakos, MD, foot and ankle surgeon at HSS, who did not treat Wallace.
