In the December print issue, Health reporter Alyssa Shaffer writes about working out in cold weather. The winter is no excuse to stay indoors - some studies show that you may actually burn more calories when you break a sweat in the cold.
"It feels easier to exercise in a cooler climate," says Pamela Geisel MS, CSCS, exercise physiologist at HSS, who notes that your body does need time to warm up so don't go too hard, too soon.
