Dr. Nwachukwu explained the mood boost provided by a jolt of cold weather often goes overlooked, even in moderate athletes. “From a very high level, we don’t think about how Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is very real, especially in the current environment where people are not outside as much,” he said. “A workout in cold weather is highly beneficial, improving mood and counteracting (emotional symptoms).”
