Start the Year With a Practical Exercise Plan

In a Women's Health Advisor article, HSS exercise physiologist Pamela Geisel MS, CSCS describes exercises typically recommended for older adults.

"We prefer to use the exercise recommendations from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). They have a section for older adults that includes flexibility and balance - areas that are often overlooked," said Geisel.

According to the article, ACSM recommendations are broken down into four categories: cardiorespiratory, resistance, flexibility and neuromotor exercise.
