SiriusXM NBA Radio: January 20, 2018

SiriusXM NBA Radio's NBA Weekend hosted HSS sports medicine surgeon Sabrina M. Strickland, MD live on-air to discuss San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard's recent overuse injury, quadriceps tendinopathy.

Dr. Strickland, who did not treat Leonard, explained that surgery is not typically required to treat the injury. "If it's just tendinitis, it should get back with rehab," she noted.

According to the segment, the NBA eliminated stretches of four games in five nights. Dr. Strickland commented on the new policy, "I think it's incredibly important. You need some time to rest… Basketball is very hard on the body and especially for a sport like that, I think it's a great idea."

This segment aired live during the January 20, 2018 broadcast.
