The CEO Forum's Robert Reiss interviews Louis A. Shapiro, president and CEO of HSS, on driving innovation in orthopedics and musculoskeletal health.

Mr. Shapiro explains that HSS is motivated with being better - the word 'better' is the foundation of the HSS strategy plan.

"With everything we do, there's an opportunity to improve our performance for the people who need us," says Mr. Shapiro. 

In terms of his leadership philosophy, Mr. Shapiro notes that he's a believer in purpose-driven organizations. "Our purpose is to help people get back to what they need and love to do better than any place in the world." Additionally, Mr. Shapiro adheres to the idea of 'leadership by all' - everyone is a leader in the organization regardless of role.
