Orthopedics Today reports on a new study finding peripheral nerve stimulation for chronic low back pain may reduce pain and disability and includes perspective from Sravisht Iyer, MD, spine surgeon at HSS.

Dr. Iyer said, “While the results are certainly promising – it is important to remember that axial back pain can be due to a number of different causes ranging from degenerative disc disease, facet arthrosis, muscular dysfunction, etc., as with any treatment modality – getting the diagnosis (underlying cause) of back pain is going to be critical to seeing successful results.”
