Optimizing Basketball Performance

Junior Knicks featured a bylined article by HSS sports performance specialist Aaron Karp MS, ATC, CSCS, who provided insight on how basketball players can improve their performance.

Karp said athletes must consistently work on their flexibility through foam rolling, dynamic and static stretching. He recommended incorporating stretching exercises before and after each practice or game.

Additionally, Karp pointed out that "you will want to build up your core and hip stability to help when defending and boxing out your opponent. Try holding a plank and make sure you are feeling it in your abs, not your lower back".
