Newsweek releases the “World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2023” list, rating HSS the world’s #1 hospital for orthopedics for the third consecutive year, based on a survey of doctors, health care professionals and hospital managers in over 20 countries.

Conducted by Newsweek and Statista, a global market research and consumer data firm, the “World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2023” report identifies the top hospitals globally across 11 specialties: cardiology, cardiac surgery, oncology, endocrinology, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, pulmonology, pediatrics and urology.

Newsweek and Statista note that “(specialized) hospitals are often at the forefront of scientific development in their medical fields and excel in certain surgeries or procedures which lead other hospitals or doctors to transfer their patients to these facilities to get the best treatment.”

“It is an honor to be acknowledged by our peers as the global leader in orthopedics,” said Bryan T. Kelly, MD, MBA, surgeon-in-chief and medical director at HSS. “This is just one more ranking that helps underscore the immense responsibility we have to continue advancing the field of musculoskeletal health through world-class patient care, innovation, education and research.”

Additionally, HSS is once again named to the “World's Best Smart Hospitals 2023” list among 300 of the best medical institutions worldwide that are leading the field in smart technologies for their use of AI, digital imaging, telemedicine, robotics and electronic functionalities. HSS was noted for being a standout in the electronic functionalities category.
