Muscle's Many Powers

U.S. News & World Report featured HSS sports dietitian and sports performance specialist Jason Machowsky RD, CSSD, RCEP, CSCS, in an article about how muscle mass positively affects overall health.

According to the article, compound exercises such as deadlifts and squats could build muscle mass.

Machowsky said it's important to remember that your body is a 3D object and meant to move in all planes of motion.  

After performing exercises, Machowsky recommended prioritizing good sleep and balancing nutrition to optimize muscle recovery.

"Recovery is not just about waiting, it's about the things you do in that period to help your body recover," he noted.
