Minimally invasive chevron bunionectomy, modified Lapidus procedure yield similar outcomes

Orthopedics Today reports on HSS study results led by Elizabeth A. Cody, MD, foot and ankle surgeon, and presented at the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) 2021 annual meeting, showing minimally invasive chevron and Akin bunionectomy and modified Lapidus procedure yielded similar radiographic outcomes.

Dr. Cody explained, “We found that the MIS procedures used less OR time, but there were no significant differences in radiographic outcomes – contrary to our hypothesis. There were no significant differences in PROMIS outcomes or satisfaction.”
