Michael Parks, M.D. Steps into AAOS Presidential Line

Another major leadership move in orthopedics is underway. Michael L. Parks, MD, FAAOS, hip and knee surgeon who has been named First Vice President of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

This appointment places him firmly on the Academy’s four-year presidential track, with plans to assume the AAOS presidency in 2027. He officially stepped into the role following the 2026 AAOS Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Dr. Parks has also been recognized with major Academy honors, including the Diversity Award and the Achievement Award, reflecting both service and impact.

Working alongside incoming AAOS President Wilford Gibson, M.D., Dr. Parks is expected to help guide strategic priorities around surgeon education, advocacy, and musculoskeletal health.
