Man vs. History host and historian Bil Lepp explores the past life of Harry Houdini and enlisted HSS hand and upper extremity surgeon Daniel A. Osei, MD, MSc, to help advise on his investigation into a rumor about Houdini’s hand injury.

Lepp showed Dr. Osei an archived x-ray of Houdini’s left hand which revealed a bullet that was never removed. He asked Dr. Osei if it was possible for Houdini to make his hand small enough to get out of locked handcuffs. Dr. Osei confirmed this is not possible, citing “it was not consistent with anything he had ever seen.”
