The Do's and Don'ts of Exercising With Psoriatic Arthritis

HealthCentral.com reports exercising with psoriatic arthritis can be a challenge, however regular exercise that follows a supervised plan can help ease associated pain and keep your joints safe.

HealthCentral.com spoke to Lauren Smith, PT, physical therapist at HSS, who explained, “Exercise can actually reduce swelling and stiffness, while strengthening the muscles that surround and stabilize the joints.” Smith advised patients to consult with their primary physician before beginning a new routine; to embrace exercise options that don’t jolt the body (i.e. yoga, Pilates, or cycling); and to calibrate your workout to how your joints and energy levels are feeling that day.
