Joint Surgery: Aspirin Equals NOAC for Post-Acute VTE Prevention

In a MedPage Today article, a recent study found that aspirin is just as effective as rivaroxaban at preventing blood clots after joint replacement surgery.

HSS anesthesiologist Stavros G. Memtsoudis, MD, PhD, agreed with the study's findings and noted that they reflect a practice that is already in use.

However, he noted that the research supports the claim that aspirin is a safe, efficient and effective way to provide anticoagulation.
