“Achilles injuries are different,” said Dr. Positano. They may be healed physically, but there’s a significant psychological component as well. Every time an athlete coming off a recent Achilles injury moves, somewhere in their mind they could be wondering whether they’ll re-injure it. It takes time to overcome that and often the timeframe for true recovery is closer to two years.”
