Jayson Tatum deserves all the grace as he returns from the worst injury in basketball
Jayson Tatum's return to the court after suffering from one of the worst injuries in basketball has been one of the biggest stories in the NBA this season. The big picture is this: Tatum tore his Achilles tendon last May and returned to the floor less than 10 months after suffering the injury. He’s been back on the court for less than three weeks. The choice to re-acclimate (and, unavoidably, struggle) in the public eye was a brave one, and, though it’s not unheard of to do so, it’s also very uncommon for a player of his caliber to return as quickly as he did.
The Celtics Blog has reported on Tatum's return, noting that a part of why he was able to pull this speedy rehab off is because, by all accounts, he has a wonderful training and medical staff around him, including his surgeon, Martin O’Malley, MD, foot and ankle surgeon at HSS.
