It's Never Too Late to Start Running—the Science (and Ruth) Prove It

Outside Run reported on how it's never too late to start running, featuring insight from Grace Horan, MS, ACSM-EP, exercise physiologist at HSS.  

“It’s almost never too late to begin running,” said Horan. While age, fitness level, and existing health conditions can influence how someone starts, people can experience meaningful health benefits from running at virtually any stage of life. Rather than focusing exclusively on age, it may be more helpful to focus on readiness to run and proper progression to successfully begin running later in life.”

“The body remains remarkably responsive to exercise, even in older adulthood, making it possible for new runners to experience significant improvements in overall health,” Horan continued.
