HSS physical therapist Leigh-Ann Bramble PT, DPT, USATF-L1, said x-ray evidence suggests that osteoarthritis is more common in soccer players and weightlifters than it is in long-distance runners.
However, Plack addressed how runners can prevent injury by maintaining proper form. She noted that excessive stride length is a common form misstep that could put additional stress on the knees.
