HSS anesthesia training program gets high marks in Vietnam

Crain's Health Pulse reported that HSS anesthesiologists taught regional anesthesia techniques to a group of clinicians in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

According to a survey conducted by the Global Health Initiative at HSS, local doctors who completed the six-year program felt "very" comfortable with performing the regional anesthesia procedures.

Swetha Pakala, MD, anesthesiologist and director of the Global Health Initiative at HSS, said "our focus is not so much on the clinical care of patients but to teach anesthesia, so they can learn the skills and teach it to their colleagues."

According to the article, the participants were able to pass on their learnings to eight new physicians visiting from central Vietnam.
