How To Stay Joint Healthy In Your 40s And 50s

Brookfield Daily Voice featured a bylined article by HSS hip and knee surgeon, Alexander S. McLawhorn, MD, MBA, who addressed how to maintain joint health and manage osteoarthritis.

"For osteoarthritis, early treatment and prevention begins with modifying recreational activities to decrease the frequency of impact sports such as running and competitive athletics. You can adapt non-impact activities, such as an elliptical, aquatic-based exercises and cycling, into your exercise routine," Dr. McLawhorn wrote.

Additionally, Dr. McLawhorn explained that a person could be prescribed exercise or physical therapy before surgery depending on their level of pain.
