Glenn Close recently shared that she underwent hip replacement surgery at HSS. She expressed her “deep gratitude” to her surgeon, Edwin P. Su, MD, hip and knee replacement and hip preservation surgeon at HSS, for “being a consummate physician in every way.” 

“Thank you for my new hip,” Close added.

In an Instagram post shared Oct. 20, Close explained why she had recently been seen using a cane. “I have a cane because I had a complete hip replacement,” she said. “I found out that my left hip was in really bad shape and my whole thing is to keep myself in running order so I can really leap into whatever challenges come my way.”
