Fox 5 New York hosted HSS sports medicine surgeon Joshua S. Dines, MD, live on-air during Sports Extra to discuss treatment approaches for injured athletes.  

"It really is a multi-faceted approach to kind of diagnosing the injuries and coming up with an appropriate timeline to return to play," said Dr. Dines, who noted that he works with the player, physical therapists and trainers throughout the rehabilitation process. 

He added that "not everybody recovers at the same rate, not all injuries are the same. It's really a day-to-day process checking in and making sure they are progressing well."
