6 Sneaky Triggers of Rheumatoid Arthritis

HealthCentral.com discusses six triggers driving the development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), in people who are genetically predisposed to the condition, including “bad” gut bacteria and stress.

HealthCentral.com spoke to Weijia Yuan, MD, rheumatologist at HSS, who advised patients to adopt an anti-inflammatory diet, as some patients respond positively to dietary changes. This type of diet includes fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and healthy fats. Furthermore, Dr. Yuan explained persistent stress can lead to chronic inflammation which can set off RA, however patients can adopt healthy stress management habits into their daily routines.
