Inside The Bulletproof Coffee Guy’s New Body-Hacking Gym

WIRED reports Upgrade Labs, the first biohacking health and fitness facility, offers data-driven technology dedicated to improving mental and physical performance and recovery, including cryotherapy. The basic theory of cryotherapy is the body reacts to the cold temperatures by shunting blood out of extremities and into the body’s core. When the body rewarms itself, the blood flows back into the extremities, to clear lactic acid from muscles, stimulate your metabolism, and produce endorphins.

WIRED spoke to Jennifer L. Solomon, MD, physiatrist and sports medicine physician at HSS, about this theory, who said, “In the short term, cryotherapy can boost your metabolism, but no one knows how long that lasts, since it hasn’t been fully studied.”
