Does the Steam Room at the Gym Actually Do Anything?

Reporter K. Aleisha Fetters dives into the topic of using a steam room at your local gym. 

Jason Machowsky RD, CSSD, RCEP, CSCS, sports dietitian and exercise physiologist at HSS, explains that a steam room is any room that's warmed to 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit and has humidity levels at or near 100 percent. 

While there's no proven benefits of a steam room, there's also not a lot of downsides. However, it's good to use one that is regularly cleaned. "Poor sanitation can create issues with mold or germ transfer," adds Machowsky.
