Allowing Wiggle Room In Your Training Plan Could Lead to Better Results

Runner's World interviews experts to determine how runners should adjust their training plan to see the best results.

While it may be tempting to just follow your set training plan, success comes from listening to your body during the process to make any necessary adjustments.

One factor that may indicate the need for a change in training plan is resting heart rate.

"A higher heart rate means your body is more stressed, which means you might not have much energy," said Polly de Mille RN, MA, RCEP, CSCS, USAT, exercise physiologist at HSS.

If you are powering through a workout, de Mille suggests staying alert for any aches or pains that signal a more serious injury.
