After a devastating knee injury, Peloton instructor takes on the NYC Marathon with help from HSS

Peloton instructor and HSS patient Ash Pryor completed her first TCS New York City Marathon after overcoming a severe knee cartilage injury that threatened her ability to teach, train and stay active.

Ash underwent surgery by Riley J. Williams III, MD, Chief of the Sports Medicine Institute at HSS and was guided through rehabilitation by Candace Young, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS, physical therapist at HSS. Their goal was not only to restore her strength, but also to help her regain confidence in her knee and safely return to the activities she loves.

In an ABC News feature, Ash shares her journey from knee surgery back to the Peloton studio and ultimately to the 26.2-mile course. Dr. Williams and Candace also discuss her recovery, the importance of not rushing rehabilitation and how a personalized recovery plan can help people safely return to an active lifestyle.
