Addressing COVID-19 Concerns in Pregnant Women With Rheumatic Diseases

Rheumatology Advisor dives into how the COVID-19 pandemic can affect pregnant women with rheumatic diseases in a Q&A with Jane E. Salmon, MD, rheumatologist at HSS.

Dr. Salmon notes that there is not significant data available yet patients with rheumatic conditions may be at greater risk for developing infections.” We do not know what, if any, risk is posed to infants of pregnant women who have COVID-19,” she adds.

She strongly advises patients with rheumatic disease work from home if possible to stay within social distancing and even sheltering-in-place guidelines by certain states.
