8 Myths About Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis, Debunked

Everyday Health reports on common misconceptions of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment, according to experts including HSS rheumatologist, Dalit Ashany, MD.

Dr. Ashany explains the use of biologic drugs and janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors aren’t only used for patients with severe RA, despite this myth. Such treatments are recommended when traditional disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) aren’t effective. “And this can occur in people who don’t have a severe form of RA”, said Dr. Ashany.
