Woman’s Day discusses six lifestyle changes that make living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) easier, according to HSS rheumatologist, Susan M. Goodman, MD.

Dr. Goodman explained how being active can help RA patients stay mobile and reduce pain and stiffness; adjusting the approach to eating by trying a Mediterranean diet (as it is non-restrictive and has anti-inflammatory benefits); maintaining a healthy weight to avoid excess stress on weight-bearing joints; to speak up when you need assistance; to quit smoking, as it is linked to the development of antibodies that are a marker for more aggressive RA; and to take an RA workshop that instills the knowledge for proper management of the day-to-day condition.
