“Playing tennis is the dessert; your dinner is taking care of your body through strength training and good body awareness,” said Dr. Metzl. “You can’t have dessert until you’ve had your dinner!”
“Tennis is a sport where we most commonly see repetitive use injuries, injuries that happen over time, as compared to sports like skiing where we see acute, one time injuries,” added Dr. Metzl. “With repetitive use injuries, they are almost always preventable by recognizing the pain early on, knowing when to stop and back off and working on things like strength, flexibility and form to prevent recurrence.”
