Nelson is noted for growing the HSS IT team and creating new leadership positions.

Under Nelson’s leadership, HSS completed an electronic health record (EHR) installation in January 2016 and earned Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) stage 7 certification in November 2017. HSS also earned the HIMSS Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence for IT last year.
